Founded in 2012, Acute Collective is led by veteran stylist Linda Thomas, who brings nearly two decades of international experience, and her talented protégé Andrea Hernandez, a San Francisco native with a passion for art and connection. Together, they have cultivated a space where clients can unwind, share stories, and indulge in personalized hair services.

Linda began her nearly 20-year career internationally before settling in San Francisco, where she’s created a dedicated following with her infectious energy and serious professional skills, perfected through advanced training from Kevin Murphy and Color.me. She founded Acute in 2012 to create an open, welcoming space for her wide community of clients and collaborators, and she’s since grown the collective to include her love of plants and design. Acute Collective is a reflection of Linda’s easygoing warmth—a neighborhood space that invites everyone in and adds beauty in their day.

A proud San Francisco native, Andrea Hernandez discovered her love for hair, makeup, and fashion at an early age. Her passion turned into purpose when, as a client of Linda’s, she was inspired to pursue a career in the beauty industry. That spark led her to the Paul Mitchell Institute, where she laid the groundwork for her craft.
For the past three years, Andrea has trained under Linda’s guidance, refined her skills, and developed into a versatile, detail-driven stylist. She specializes in balayage, dimensional highlighting, precision cutting, styling, and extensions that blend creativity with technique to bring clients’ visions to life.

Hourly pricing

A simple, transparent way to book that’s based on time rather than individual services. Your rate covers whatever’s needed to achieve your desired look that day—extra color, toners, deep-conditioning treatments, even a haircut—without surprise add-ons or multiple appointments.

It’s a streamlined, all-inclusive approach designed to give you beautiful results and a clear price from the start.

If a service takes longer than the original quoted time for your service, you will be charged for your quoted amount of time in the salon. If your service is completed 15-30 minutes earlier than your quoted service time, we can use this time to fine tune your finished style, and even dust your ends, but you will still be charged for the original quoted time.
In the event that this happens, your stylist will have already contacted the appointment after you to ensure you’re getting your full amount of time in the chair.
Tipping is considered the pay you get based on your performance. Stylists are artists, our clients are commissioning us for our time and our art.
We want to change the way we are viewed as hairdressers and remove the confusion on what is an “acceptable” tip.
By including the tip in our services, our hope is to change the way you look at getting your hair done. It also allows us to be as transparent with you as possible.
